Since 2002, the Brittain Center for Resort Tourism at Coastal Carolina University has performed weekly surveys to gauge occupancy in local accommodations and has generated forecasts for what's ahead. In the midst of the pandemic, area tourism leaders and local governments need an idea of what's happening in the industry more than ever.

The Clay Brittain Jr. Center for Resort Tourism was created in 2001 for the purpose of conducting tourism research and supporting outreach programs that create linkages between CCU's Resort Tourism Management program, the tourism industry and the resort destination area.
