CCU’s Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts to hold homecoming open house Nov. 12

November 4, 2021

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Coastal Carolina University Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts will hold an open house on Friday, Nov. 12. The showcase will begin at 9 a.m. and include performances, lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and exhibits. The event will conclude in the evening with a concert on Prince Lawn featuring three bands. Part of CCU’s homecoming week, the open house is free, open to the public, and located primarily in the Edwards Building and Brittain Hall, with additional sessions taking place across campus.

Faculty, students, and guest professionals will participate in the open house sessions, with each academic department holding events that display work representative of its discipline. Events include theatrical, musical, and dance performances; fiction, non-fiction, and poetry readings; a live bronze casting; an intelligence briefing; animation shorts from around the world; lectures on writing, history, and communication; introduction to multidisciplinary Gullah Geechee projects; and orientation sessions at experiential learning facilities including the Jackson Center for Ethics and Values, the Intelligence Operations Center, WCCU Radio, theatre design and production studio, and the Edwards television production studio.

“This event showcases the kinds of learning and creating that Edwards faculty and students pursue on a daily basis,” said Claudia Bornholdt, dean of the Edwards College. “We want to celebrate all that we encompass and all that we’ve achieved during our first 20 years, and we thought homecoming would be a perfect time to do it. We hope everyone – alumni, community members, and visitors – will participate as we highlight the various dimensions of the Edwards College.”

A full schedule of events is available online. Visitors may park in lots Q or P, adjacent to the Edwards Building; see map.
