Diane Fabiano Sanders, a 2005 graduate of Coastal Carolina University, has been named vice president for advancement and alumni engagement at the University, according to CCU President Michael T. Benson. Sanders, a member of the President’s Cabinet, previously served as the interim vice president since June 2021.

Sanders is responsible for all advancement and alumni engagement functions, which include cultivating relationships with alumni and donors, community engagement, overseeing all academic fundraising and the annual giving program, and leading the 39,000-plus member alumni association and its activities, including planning all on- and off-campus alumni events.

“Diane’s energy, love for her alma mater, and meaningful relationships she has forged with our various constituents through the years make her the perfect fit for this position,” said Benson. “I look forward to continuing to work with Diane and her team as we connect with our alumni, donors, and friends to share all the great news about the University and invite them to support our many initiatives and continued growth. There is no better time to invest in Coastal Carolina University and our students.”

Sanders, who earned a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre from CCU, has worked at the University for more than 15 years. She previously served as executive director of alumni relations for two-and-a-half years. Her fundraising background includes serving as the director for philanthropy for the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts and as the director of annual giving. Sanders also has served her alma mater as the program coordinator within the alumni area and held various positions in admissions.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve my alma mater in this new role and for the trust that President Benson has placed in me to lead the Advancement and Alumni Engagement division,” said Sanders. “CCU has shaped me into the person I am today, so being able to build my career here and watch this University thrive has been one of my greatest joys. If you have never stepped foot on this campus, you are missing out! With our Fall 2021 record-setting freshman class, our stellar academic and athletic programs, and our upcoming beautiful facility upgrades, it is truly a great time to be part of TEAL nation! I am excited to partner with President Benson and the entire CCU community to work toward securing financial resources that will support our amazing students and this very special place that we call Coastal Carolina University.”

A native of Red Bank, N.J., Sanders lives in Myrtle Beach with her husband, Aarron, and their two sons, Dylan and Ethan.
