CCU’s 2021-2022 Student Involvement and Leadership Awards announced

Sage Short received the Ronald D. Lackey Service Award.Brianna Martin received the Student Leader of the Year Award.Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. received the Fraternity and Sorority Life Outstanding Community Service Award.

Coastal Carolina University held its annual Student Involvement and Leadership Awards (SILA) ceremony on Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the HTC Center. During the event, outstanding students, faculty, and staff, as well as groups, were recognized and received a plaque, certificate, or a coveted Chanticleer rooster trophy.

Sage Short, an English major from Harpers Ferry, W.Va., was presented the Ronald D. Lackey Service Award, given annually to a CCU senior who serves the University community with conspicuous service through involvement and leadership in campus and community activities. While at CCU, Short has been president of Sigma Tau Delta, the English national honor society, and a member of Triota, the women’s and gender studies honor society. She also served as co-president of Students Advocating Gender Equality and the editor of Her Campus. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in English at Clemson University.
