Coastal Carolina University’s Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts will hold its second annual Homecoming Open House on Friday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event, which was established in 2021 to honor the college’s 20th anniversary, showcases activities that represent the departments, programs, and experiential centers within the college. The finale is a 5 p.m. Music on the Lawn concert featuring Edwards College alumni group – 2 Slices – an electro-pop duo. An element of CCU’s homecoming week, the Edwards College Homecoming Open House is free, open to the public, and takes place in the Edwards Building, Brittain Hall, and on Prince Lawn.

“This event showcases the kinds of learning and creating that Edwards faculty and students pursue on a daily basis,” said Claudia Bornholdt, dean of the Edwards College. “We want to celebrate all that we encompass and all that we’ve achieved, and we thought homecoming would be a perfect time to do it. We hope everyone – alumni, community members, and visitors – will participate as we highlight the various dimensions of the Edwards College.”

Faculty, students, alumni, and guest professionals will participate in the open house sessions, which will run concurrently throughout the day. Events include theatrical, musical, and choral performances as well as a metalsmithing and forging exhibition, and creative workshops including an interactive hip-hop and jewelry-making workshop, screen-printing, and making clay bowls. Visitors can enjoy screenings of animation shorts from around the world. In addition, there will be interactive tours of production facilities, including the television production studio, WCCU radio station, Digital Commons, the Rebecca Randall Art Gallery, and theatre design lab. CCU alumnus Jonathan Klein ’17 will give a lecture titled, “Serving Ukraine.” There will also be interactive exhibitions featuring global engagement opportunities; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives; and The Chanticleer student newspaper.
