February 12, 2003

Jerry Wong and Stephanie Shih-yu Cheng, the husband and wife piano team known as the P'lerinage Duo, will perform a two-piano concert on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts on the Coastal Carolina University campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Wong was born in Southern California and has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and in Finland, France, Italy and Japan. In 1999 he won the Bart'k-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition. Wong was educated at the University of Indiana, the Peabody Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.

Born in Taiwan, Cheng moved to the United States in 1988 to study at the Interlochen Academy and later at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She has performed in the United States, France, Japan and Taiwan and received first prize in the Association of Pianists and Piano Teachers of America International Piano Competition.

Wong and Cheng have been playing together since 1995 and they married in 1998. They adopted their stage name, P'lerinage Duo, from a composition by Franz Liszt about pilgrims on a noble quest. As a duo, the couple made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2000. They have also performed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and have won the IBLA Grand Prize Competition in Italy and the Prix-Ville de Fontaine in France.
