Coastal Education Foundation names officers

New officers have been elected to serve the Coastal Educational Foundation for the 2003-2004 term.

They are R. Grant Singleton, president; Fred DuBard Jr., vice president; and Bill Marsh, secretary-treasurer.

Singleton, who lives in Myrtle Beach, is a retired attorney who currently consults on business investments. He is active in community service, is an appointee to the S.C. Commission on the Future of South Carolina, a member of Palmetto Project Advisory Council and chair of the Horry County Library Commission.

DuBard resides in Florence where he is president and CEO of DuBard, Inc. and an owner of the Pee Dee Pride hockey team. He has served as a member of the Coastal Board of Trustees including two twerms as chairman. He was named the1997 Florence Business Person of the Year and the 1998 S.C. Beer Wholesaler. He is involved in a number of civic organizations in Florence and in the state.

Marsh, a Conway resident, is president of Palmetto Chevrolet Co., Inc. He was president of the Coastal Carolina Alumni Association from 1998 to 2000. He is a deacon at Kingston Presbyterian Church and serves on various automotive boards and committees. The Coastal Educational Foundation is a nonprofit corporation which receives and disburses charitable gifts in support of Coastal Carolina University. The foundation was established in 1954 for the purpose of advancing higher learning in Horry County and was instrumental in the creation of Coastal. The foundation meets quarterly.
