Message from President Michael T. Benson

Coastal Carolina University Community:

The news of the tragic deaths of students from the University of Virginia and the University of Idaho this morning has stunned and saddened all of us. Senseless events like this serve as a solemn reminder that violence can cut short the lives of promising young people anywhere and at any time and shatter the peace of any community.

The CCU community stands against hate and violence in all forms. Please take care of yourselves and one another. I urge anyone who is struggling with these incidents to contact Student Health Services or Counseling Services or call 843-349-2305.

The Coastal Carolina University family mourns with the communities of Moscow, Idaho, and Charlottesville, Virginia. We stand in solidarity with both institutions. It's important that we place our scheduled game at UVA this Saturday in the proper context and focus our efforts on supporting and grieving with our colleagues and friends in Charlottesville.
