Message from the QEP Director

In our commitment to inclusive excellence, Coastal Carolina University developed Belong@Coastal: Building Student Achievement Through Inclusive Engagement as its 2022-2027 Quality Enhancement Plan. The goal of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is to elevate student’s levels of academic achievement and social belonging through targeted curricular and co-curricular engagement. Together as a community, we will support students, faculty and staff in offering strategies to help impact our retention, progression and graduation rates.

As the QEP Director, I look forward to leading and providing oversight of the Belong@Coastal QEP among faculty, staff, and students to facilitate the integration of transformative student engagement and learning at CCU. My role is to be a champion of the Belong@Coastal QEP and with an “unsinkable” approach, I will continue to do so by:

  • working with faculty, administration, staff, and students to guarantee the successful implementation of the Belong@Coastal QEP,
  • fostering a collaborative environment for the Belong@Coastal QEP Steering Committee to create professional development opportunities necessary to achieve the Belong@Coastal QEP goals,
  • promoting participation in the Belong@Coastal QEP throughout the University and to the community,
  • working closely with the Director of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Analysis to develop and manage the Belong@Coastal QEP assessments, collaboratively collect and analyze the results of the Belong@Coastal QEP programming, and implement improvements as necessary to increase our effectiveness,
  • performing outreach and marketing to students to encourage participation to meet the Belong@Coastal QEP goals, and
  • providing updates to the CCU community regarding the Belong@Coastal QEP progress.

I know with the advisement and support of the Provost and the Belong@Coastal QEP Steering Committee, the implementation of the Belong@Coastal QEP will continue to enhance opportunities for student learning, engagement, and ultimately, student success.
