‌Certificate in Instructional Technology

student at laptopThe Certificate in Instructional Technology is a 9 credit 100 percent online or hybrid undergraduate certificate program that provides students with opportunities to develop essential skills that leverage technology to improve learning in educational settings. Students will experience best practices in the design and integration of technology-rich instructional activities and materials that accommodate learner variability in face-to-face, blended, and online settings, as well as how to analyze learner-generated data to improve instruction, how to model responsible digital citizenship, and how to facilitate online collaboration. This non-licensure certificate from the college fulfills some undergraduate Core Curriculum and pre-professional education program requirements.

Admission

Degree-seeking undergraduate and non-degree seeking students at Coastal Carolina University are eligible for the certificate. Students must declare their intention to pursue the certificate with their academic advisers.

Program Requirements and Policies

Certificate courses may not be taken as pass/non-pass. A minimum grade of ‘C’ in all courses applied to the certificate is required. 


‌TWO REQUIRED COURSES (6 credit hours)

  • EDUC 204 Computer Technology and Instructional Media (3) (Fall, Spring - Hybrid or Online; Summer 8-Week - Online)
  • EDUC 304 Contemporary Instructional Technologies (3, Human and Social Behavior) (Fall, Spring, Summer 8-Week - Online)

ONE ELECTIVE COURSE from the following (3 credit hours):

  • EDIT 106 Cyberspace, Technology, and Learning (3, Human and Social Behavior) (Fall, Spring, Summer 2 - Online) 
  • EDIT 124 Instructional Video Production for Informal Learning (3, Critical Thinking and Reasoning) (Fall, Spring, Summer 1 - Online)
