South Carolina laws that address ethical conduct at state institutions such as Coastal Carolina University may be found in the Ethics, Government Accountability, and Campaign Reform Act.
At the University level, expectations are set forth in the University Code of Ethical Conduct and the University's Ethics Act policy. Other University policies and/or departmental policies, procedures or attestations may create additional expectations.
Members of the CCU community are encouraged to consult with the compliance officer, university counsel, or other appropriate University departments for clarification of law, policy, or ethical standards.
The South Carolina State Ethics Commission is responsible lobbyist registration and disclosure, financial disclosure, campaign practices, and ethical rules of conduct. It also issues advisory opinions as well as conducts investigations and hearings into complaints.
