Rhonda Miller earned her Ph.D. in Special Education (specializing in learning disabilities) and her Master’s degree in Special Education from Clemson University. Dr. Miller has a variety of educational experiences, including 14 years of teaching Spanish in middle and high schools. She has taught fourth grade general education, gifted education for 3rd – 5th graders, English as a Second Language for grades K-5th, and special education resource for grades 3rd-5th. Dr. Miller also spent four years as an educational evaluator, administering assessments as part of special education referral teams.

Dr. Miller has expertise in bilingual/special education, culturally responsive teaching practices, teacher education, and working with English learners and their families. Her research interests include English Language Learners with or at-risk for disabilities, culturally responsive education practices, and literacy and language development.

Project BICYCLES
Deborah Rooks-Ellis, Ph.D., and Rhonda Miller, Ph.D. received a five-year grant, totaling nearly $1.25 million, for a teacher preparation project to prepare early childhood and special education teachers for the workforce. Learn more about Project BICYCLES.

Interesting Facts:

Dr. Miller was a band student and played clarinet and trumpet. Dr. Miller also grew up as a child in a military family.
