The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” – Dr. Seuss
Biography
Bárbara Gasquet was born in Valencia, Spain, and since she was in High School she found her passion: learn, travel, teach. By the age of 18, she had already been to many European countries and knew she was not done yet. During her junior year she studied abroad at UNCW (North Carolina) and that experience completely changed her life. After returning to Spain and graduating from UV she worked for a North American-based Study Abroad company for over 3 years, where she helped students adjust to her Spanish culture, tutored them with their Spanish classes and organized extra curriculum cultural activities. Due to this job she found a passion for teaching her language and culture to international students, and as a way to combine it with her travelling zest she decided to pursue a master’s degree in Spanish Language and Translation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Once she graduated she was ready to return to her beloved Carolinas. She has been teaching at CCU since August 2016 and loves engaging with students not only in the classroom but during extracurricular activities, such as leading the Spanish conversation Club, Club Ñ, hosting The Unspoken Series talks, or organizing cultural workshops.
