D'Andre's Video

D'Andre Fletcher takes his role representing the Coastal Carolina University student body seriously. Voted as the 2018-19 Student Government Association (SGA) president, he embraces the pressure that comes with making decisions on behalf of 10,600 fellow Chanticleers. Aspiring to raise the student minimum wage rate, D'Andre wants to define his presidency by scoring a major victory for every student-worker on campus.

Using words like “surprised” and “grateful” to describe how he felt when the SGA election results rolled in, D'Andre says that holding the University’s top student leadership position qualifies as the high point of his undergraduate career. But to just focus on his SGA role would unfairly sell this motivated student short.

Declaring to be “driven by success,” D'Andre made his mark on campus way before he ascended to the presidency. A student-athlete, D'Andre sprints for the track & field team, but he has more than fast legs. Blessed with a fast mind as well, he is usually one or two moves ahead of others, evidenced by his involvement in the CCU Chess Club. D'Andre also belongs to Coastal’s NAACP chapter and the African American Initiative for Males (AAIM). Additionally, not only is D'Andre a student-athlete, but he supports them as well. A member of the Student Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, you can find him actively rooting for all CCU athletic teams. How does he do it all?

“When I set goals or if there is something I want to do in my life, I grind it out,” D'Andre says, describing his personal philosophy for reaching one’s potential.

But it just isn’t D'Andre’s own work ethic that has him thriving and exceeding expectations. Stating that Coastal’s entire environment has had a positive impact on his life, he is thankful for the boost given to him by his University.

Stating his desire to “travel the world and serve the country at the same time,” D'Andre wants to join the U.S. Air Force after he graduates. Military service runs in the family and he wants to continue the tradition. For a person who has given so much to his school, we know the country will be given even more. We admire D'Andre’s leadership and know that our student body is in great hands.
