Meet Kenneth Stillwell, a full-time young professional with “Big Four” accounting firm Ernst & Young.
Well, not quite yet.
Kenneth still has over a semester left at Coastal to continue to thrive in his numerous extracurricular activities and experiential learning opportunities. Nonetheless, it is true, a big career awaits Kenneth. He has already proven his worth enough that upon graduation he will go to work as an Ernst & Young full-time employee.
How did he do it?
Kenneth came to Coastal from New Egypt, N.J. There was never a doubt he wanted to attend business school, he just wanted to make sure he attended an institution that let students be themselves while dismissing a culture of uptightness. He chose CCU and one opportunity led to another.
He joined the Community and Business Engagement (CoBE) Institute, a student-led organization that pairs high-achieving undergraduate business students with real-life business consulting projects. His involvement with CoBE helped him land a position with the Conway Innovation Center, a technology business incubator that opened in early 2015. His responsibilities grew at CIC and eventually led to an internship outside the realm of Coastal Carolina.
“The biggest impact Coastal has had on me that I would not have received somewhere else is with the professional aspect of my life,” Kenneth explains when discussing how CCU introduced him to the corporate world.
Although the biggest stressor most students experience their senior year is a non-factor for Kenneth, he isn’t slowing down in the classroom. However, he also isn’t chaining himself to a desk until he reports to Ernst & Young either. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather our area offers, Kenneth is taking plenty of time to do activities outdoors such as soccer, hiking and pick-up sports. We hope Kenneth continues to find a healthy balance between school, work and play as he triumphantly wraps up his chapter at CCU.

How did you hear about Coastal?: I heard about Coastal during my search to find a good school in the Southeast.
Why did you come to Coastal?: I came for the great business college, including the CoBE and Wall Fellows programs
Favorite professor: Sheila Mitchell
Favorite class: Intermediate Accounting 1
Favorite aspect of Coastal?: The culture and overall vibe. Coastal is more laid back than your traditional big business school which allows me to grow professionally without feeling under stress all the time.
Favorite aspect of living in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area?: The weather and the diverse restaurants and various events held in the area throughout the year.
Clubs/Intramurals/other extracurricular activities involved in?: Delta Sigma Pi President, Club Soccer, Beta Gamma Sigma
Do you work anywhere currently (either on or off campus)?: CoBE and the Conway Innovation Center
Plans after graduation?: I will begin full-time employment with Ernst & Young.
What are your hobbies?: Anything outdoors with friends. I also enjoy going to the gym and trying new breweries.
