Tiffany Hollis earns diversity award

Tiffany Hollis, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences, received the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s Champion of Diversity award in April. The award, presented by TD Bank, recognizes a business or individual who has made a durable commitment to embracing diversity in their workplace and community.

In addition to teaching, Hollis is involved in mentoring and advising students, including working with CCU’s Call Me MISTER program, which assists with the recruitment, training, and certification of teachers from disadvantaged communities who are planning to teach in South Carolina schools, especially in the lowest-performing elementary schools.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the recipient of the Champion of Diversity award,” said Hollis. “Receiving this award speaks volumes regarding the work that I do in the classroom, on campus, in the community, and in society. For me, advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice is important. I recognize that I am making a difference daily and walking in my gifts and my purpose. I am grateful for the many mentors and champions in my life who have been integral in providing a foundation for being a change maker, a risk taker, and a cycle breaker, and for being champions and advocates for others along the way.”
