Creative Research Project Examples:

  • Study Abroad in Hawaii in collaboration with the University of Hawai'i at Manoa
  • Data Visceralization Projects (data feminist practice for heightening affect, emotionality, and feelings when presenting data-based findings)
  • Dr. Weinhold's work with CIE fellows on local media coverage widely covered by WMBF on television and online. Dyneira Brown wrote a feature article about Charlie's Place in Myrtle Beach for The Chanticleer.
  • Fellow Hailey Cornell, alongside Diamond Gaston and Rachel Huggins, organized a recital of music by Amanda Harberg (Rutgers), interviewed the composer, and launched the [Represent]atoire Project with Dr. Schultz
  • Acquired Valerie Coleman's music library for CCU, now the largest collection of her music in the world
  • Diamond Gaston gave the first student degree recital of all women composers in CCU history and has been invited to perform Valerie Coleman's music at a number of high-profile events on campus
  • Drs. Baltes and Weinhold organized a trip to Washington DC, and monument avenue in Richmond, VA
  • Dr. Baltes contributed to a larger national conversation about portrait statue monuments by looking at our region and who is representing us locally
  • Frances Ludwig competed in the Undergraduate Research Competition with her research on confederate monuments
  • Sage Short won the prestigious Ronald D. Lackey Service Award
  • Fellows volunteered in various capacities for the International Gullah Geechee and African Diaspora Conference and Community Day
  • Anti-racism panel discussion through the lens of Langston Hughes with Dr. Ron McCurdy (Professor, Trumpet; Assistant Dean of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, University of Southern California)
