Hilary M. Lips, professor emeritus at Radford University, will deliver the 2018 Women's History Month keynote address, discussing the connections between gender and pay inequity. The address and reception take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Johnson Auditorium (Wall Building, Room 116).

MUSIC
The United States Air Force Heritage of America Rhythm in Blue Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Featuring 15 professional musicians who have earned worldwide acclaim and military distinction, the band performs a wide repertoire of jazz and fusion from Big Band swing to cutting-edge contemporary music, and its vocalist engages the audience with jazz standards and patriotic classics.

Sarah E. Worth, professor of philosophy at Furman University, will deliver a lecture titled "Why Read Fiction? A Philosophical Defense" at 4:30 p.m. in the Wall Boardroom (Room 222). The lecture will explore why reading fiction is an important element to a happy and flourishing life.

Andrea Bergstrom, assistant professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture, will present a lecture titled "Combating Fake News: A Media Literacy Approach" at 10 a.m. at the Myrtle Beach Education Center. This lecture will focus on several approaches to combat fake news through media literacy education.

MUSIC
Pianist Paul Barnes will perform a recital titled "Love, Death, and Resurrection in the Musical Vision of Philip Glass, Franz List, and Ancient Chant," at 4 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall. Barnes is the Marguerite Scribante Professor of Music at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music and has released 12 CDs throughout his career.

The annual Pat Singleton-Young Gospel Sing-Out will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Featuring the Coastal Ambassadors, CCU's premier gospel vocal ensemble, and guest choirs from around the area, this annual community event is also a fundraiser for the Pat Singleton-Young Leadership Scholarship, an award designated for students who participate in on-campus multicultural programs and activities.
