CCU alumnus is distinguished speaker at Wall College public event

November 6, 2018
Alumnus Daniel Ross returns to Coastal Carolina University on Nov. 8 as distinguished speaker in public event hosted by the Wall College of Business.

Daniel Ross '07, director of distribution and builder sales at Savant, will be the guest speaker for the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration's Distinguished Speaker Series on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. in Johnson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Ross, who grew up in Cape Cod, became the first director of national sales of Savant in 2013. Savant, a company that specializes in home control and automation, was founded in 2005.

Over the last decade, his career has accelerated. He started in an entry-level sales position in 2009, and in 2015, he became the company's director of business development. With the help of a small team, Ross created the builder/developer channel of Savant, which today represents more than 20 percent of Savant's installations nationwide.

Today, Ross oversees the builder channel and the recently launched North American distribution channel that is projected to increase Savant's customer base by 300 percent within the next 18 months. He is currently spearheading a venture that will lay the groundwork for the electrical and commercial channels for Savant. Ross received his bachelor's degree at Coastal Carolina University, where he majored in finance. He resides in Austin.

The Distinguished Speaker Series was created in 2014 to connect the CCU academic community with highly regarded and successful business leaders, and to strengthen the relationship between the college and the business community.

Previous speakers include Robert Bagby, retired chairman/CEO of A.G. Edwards Inc.; Sandra Brittian, Global Head of Citi Holdings Program Management Office; Ronald Dissinger, senior VP/CFO of Kellogg Company; Richard Pilosof '83, managing partner/CEO/head of risk, RP Investment Advisors; Paul Singh, venture capitalist and publisher, Results Junkies.
