Makeup tests

The Academic Testing Center offers the administration of makeup tests on an individual basis for students who are unable to test because of an excused absence from a conventional CCU course (not hybrid or online).  Please refer to CCU’s Class Attendance policy for more information on excused absences.

Information for students:

Your instructor initiates the makeup test process.  Once we receive the test from your instructor, we will send you an email with instructions for taking your makeup test.

You will have two options for taking your test:

  • You can make an appointment, OR
  • You may test during walk-in hours.  Click here for more info on our walk-in testing.

If you have questions, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Information for instructors:

ATTENTION INSTRUCTORS: Technical issues (lockdown, webcam, microphone, etc.) and instructor/student preference to test in the ATC are not considered excused absences.

Instructors must submit to the ATC a completed Makeup Test Request Form and all test material (test, instructions, charts, formulas, etc.) at least 24 hours in advance of the desired test deadline.

***New for 2018-2019: ATC will only process requests once we have received both the request AND the test materials. These items may be submitted in person to CSCC 102 or by email to

The delivery or return of the Makeup Test Request Form and/or test by the student is not permitted; all forms and tests must be submitted by the faculty member or their administrative assistant.

We recommend that instructors allow a minimum of 3-5 days for the tests to be completed by the students.  This is especially true at the end of the semester when the ATC experiences higher than average testing volume.

The ATC will notify the students by email of their testing options: either scheduling an appointment or using our walk-in testing option.

The completed test will be returned either by instructor pickup or by email, as indicated on the Makeup Test Request form.
