Biography

I have spent my entire career, or the majority of it, in education.  After graduating with a BA in Mathematics from UNCW, I began teaching high school Calculus.  While I love math, I had a passion for IT.  I pursued and completed my MS in Information Technology with East Carolina University while teaching IT courses in the North Carolina Community College System.  I was with that entity serving as both faculty and administration for nearly 14 years, teaching over 100 different IT courses and specializing in Linux Systems Engineering.  In 2018 I got the urge to return to my original passion of IT and leave the world of administrative paperwork behind.  I moved with my family from Fayetteville, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC to serve as the systems analyst and systems administrator for the CCU Office of Research and Experiential Computing Cyberinfrastructure (https://ci.coastal.edu), or  CCU CI for short.  While I'm no longer with CCU in that capacity, I am thankful for the continued opportunities to teach courses in an adjunct capacity through the Department of Computing Sciences.  I enjoy sharing my training and experience with students seeking to expand their skills in IT, especially Linux administration.
