Pi A Math/Stat Professor

When: Friday, April 19. 2024 from 12:15-1:45 p.m., CINO Grille Terrace

About: Pi Mu Epsilon is hosting its second annual Pi A Math/Stat Professor event to raise money toward events and programming for the Pi Mu Epsilon honor society. The cost is $5 per pie.

Math Jeopardy Contest

When: February 16, 2023, 5 p.m., in Smith 104

About: The event usually lasts a little longer than an hour, and it includes pizza and refreshments to comfort you while you struggle to answer in the form of a question. Some potential topics for this semester’s contest are pre-calculus, solids of revolution, probability, and determinants.

Pi Mu Epsilon Induction Ceremony

When: February 23, 12-1 in SCI 218

About: We will have an induction presentation and pizza afterward. The fee for this ceremony is $10 per person. Some of this money will be spent on our food and some, if any is left, will go to our local chapter as a donation.

Pi Mu Epsilon Program (Spring 2023)


Subhash Saxena High School Math Contest

When: March 3, 2023

About: A contest for local high schools that has been ongoing since 1979. The goal is to foster interest and excellence in math.

Mathematical Association of American Southeastern Section Meeting

When: March 9-11, 2023

About: The 102nd annual meeting of the southeastern section of the Mathematical Association of America will be hosted by CCU in this three-day conference. As the section has declared since its beginning, “Anyone interested in mathematics is invited to attend.”

Registration Event

When: April 3, 2023, 12-1 p.m., in Smith 218

About: Mathematics and statistics majors and minors are invited to enjoy pizza while speaking with their advisors about registration for Fall 2023 classes.

Mock AP Calculus and Statistics Exams

When: April 27, 2023

About: The department hosts a day of mock AP exams for area high schools. Lunch and a discussion of problems are included.

Bowling at 810  
When: Sept. 22, 2023, 6 p.m.

About: Come out and enjoy some camaraderie and friendly competition with faculty, staff, and students from the math and statistics department! 810 is located across the street from CCU on Hwy. 501. 

Pumpkin Carving and Chili  
When: Oct. 27, 2023, 5 p.m., Woods Pavilion  
About:
Kick off the fall season with faculty, staff, and students by carving pumpkins and eating some delicious chili!

Registration for Classes and Pizza  
When: Oct. 31, 2023, Noon-1:30 p.m., Smith 218 Suite 
About:
It might be Halloween, but don't let registering for classes be scary! Come out and register for classes for the Spring 2024 semester with friends and faculty, and have a slice or two of pizza.

About: Join Pi Mu Epsilon for a catered lunch where faculty will introduce their research in short, accessible talks, followed by a grad school Q&A. Open to interested students of any major!

Putt-Putt

What better way to end the Fall 2023 semester than with a friendly game of putt-putt amongst friends? The time and location of this event will be posted soon. 

Rock Band Night

The Subhash Saxenda Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics ROCKS! If you want to come out and show off your vocal and guitar talents (or just want to blow off some steam), this event is for YOU! Come out and enjoy a night of food, fun, and some rockin' competition.
