Biography

Weis has been working professional in theatre and live entertainment for 35 years. He has designed over 300 production and participated in over 3000 performances as a stagehand. The highlights from his career include working with directors and designer such as Harold Prince, Nagle Jackson, Dennis Parishy, Michael Lincoln, Andrea Bechert, Richard Winkler, Steven Shelley, The Paul Taylor Dance Company and many others. He also acted as Lighting Director/Technical Director for the North Carolina Dance Theatre where he designed the world premiere of the "Sin Limites" choreographed by Omayra Amaya. Weis spent 10 years as Lighting Director/Technical Director for the Gaston Dance Theatre designing a ten show season that always included "The Nutcracker Ballet". Weis includes commercial and residential lighting design as a side hustle throughout his career. After years of touring and freelancing, Weis transitioned to teaching Theatrical Production and Design in the North Carolina Public Schools to encourage students into the "dark side" of the performing arts. His students have excelled as professional while high school students and beyond. His previous students have gone on to Broadway, National Broadway tours as well as designing on the Oscars, MTV Music Award, and other productions.
