Biography

Lindsey Fox joined Coastal Carolina University in Fall 2015. She teaches introductory courses in both algebra and calculus.

Prior to CCU, she taught calculus II at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Vermont in 2014, where she focused on pure mathematics, abstract algebra, and proof writing and engaged in research funded by the National Science Foundation in combinatorics applied to abstract algebra. She obtained a Master of Science applied mathematics in 2015 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute., where she focused on applying mathematical principles and modeling to molecular biology and microbiology.

Her master’s capstone project revamped and made improvements to the bridge calculus course that Rensselaer had offered only once before. This calculus course was designed to help students bridge the gap between high school calculus and college calculus. She designed this course out of an interest in improving students’ ability to adapt to the rigorous math in college that some high schools lack. She continues to be interested in what colleges can offer to help with the transition from high school mathematics to college mathematics, and she is passionate about improving students’ learning experience in college math courses.
