Department of Defense Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship

Scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students pursuing a degree in one of 21 STEM disciplines. Scholars receive full tuition scholarships, annual stipends, and a guaranteed job with DoD post-graduation. Must be citizen of the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or UK at time of application.
Fulbright-Hays Fellowship

Funding for advanced Chinese language study in Tainan, Taipei, or Hsinchu, Taiwan (summer) or Taipei, Taiwan (semester). Luce Scholarship

The Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional 13-month placement in Asia. There are 18 Luce Scholars each year. Open to a variety of fields. Preference for applicants who have had limited exposure to Asia. The Luce mission is to forge stronger relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program
DEADLINE:
Oct. 16 - 20, 2023 (depending on field)
For seniors, alumni, and 1st and 2nd year graduate students. Three years of funding for students in a research-based Master’s or PhD in a GRFP supported field. Includes annual stipends and educational allowances. US citizen, US national, or permanent resident.
South Carolina Wildlife Federation Scholarships
DEADLINE: October 31, 2023
Awards of $500 scholarships available for full-time graduate and undergraduate students pursuing degrees in any environmental field at South Carolina schools of higher education. Environmental solutions are not only scientific--they include historical, political, economic and cultural perspectives. The environment includes buildings, highways and ocean tankers as well as pine trees and coyotes. To build a sustainable society, an understanding of social and ecological systems is crucial. Applicants need to address the student's educational goal and career interests, employment and volunteer experience, including leadership. In addition, a brief note from a supporting faculty member must be letter emailed to bebe@scwf.org with subject line “SCWF Scholarship Letter of Support for (student’s name).” Scholarship winners will be announced in January and awarded in February each year.
Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals Scholarship

For one-year work and study experience in Germany. Provides funding for German language study, courses in applicant’s field, and an internship opportunity. U.S. citizenship required. Must be between the ages of 18½–24. Previous knowledge of German language preferred but not required.
Public Policy of International Affairs Junior Summer Institute

Funding for rigorous academic programs that prepares students to obtain a Master’s or joint degree in public policy, public administration, international affairs, or a related field. For undergraduate juniors committed to public service careers. Must be a US citizen, a permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
Winthrop’s McNair Scholars Program

The McNair experience is a paid summer research opportunity (any field) and continued through graduation and beyond. McNair Scholars receive guidance throughout the graduate application and interview process and help find funding for graduate study. American-Scandinavian Foundation

Offers year-long fellowships of up to $23,000 and short term (1-3 months) fellowships of up to $5,000 to graduate students (preferably conducting dissertation research) and academic professionals interested in pursuing research or creative-arts projects in the Nordic region (Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sámpi, and Sweden).
DAAD Graduate Study/Research Scholarship

Critical Language Scholarship and CLS Spark

DAAD Summer Course Grants

Scholarships for three- to four-week summer courses conducted in German at various German universities. The courses primarily focus on literary, cultural, political, and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany including German Language for engineers and economists and the field of law. Students can also engage in advanced language learning and enjoy extracurricular programs that enhance their experience. Students in undergraduate (e.g. bachelor's) and master's degree programs in all disciplines are eligible to apply. Undergraduate students must have completed at least two academic years by the time the scholarship period begins.
Harry S. Truman Scholarship

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship

Funds 2 years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid summer internship at a NOAA facility. Must be a U.S. citizen; minimum GPA of 3.0, and a declared major in a discipline that support NOAA's programs and mission.
