Vivian Ford - Chair

Vivian Ford imageI have been at Coastal Carolina University for over 25 years. Since 2009, I have worked as the Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness in the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment, and Analysis (IRAA). My job primarily focuses on accreditation and assessment. I also manage several staff members who are responsible for campus-wide survey administration, data reporting for the Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences, faculty credentialing, and more. I also create content and manage the department’s website.

Before IRAA, I worked in Information Technology Services.  I started as an Information Resource Consultant (tech support) and then Director of Academic Support Services.

Having been at CCU for so long, I have seen so many positive changes and huge growth. I think CCU has made a name for itself through our strong and innovative academic programs, a successful athletic presence, community involvement, and the most gorgeous college campus in South Carolina. I would like to see CCU stand proud based on these things.

The Staff Senate is still new and trying to determine the impact it can have. It is important to get the word out that Staff Senate exists and is the voice of the staff on campus. Involving all staff in the conversations that need to take place is key. I enjoy my role as Senator and have chaired two committees in the past two plus years. I’m glad I am giving back, if only in a small way, to CCU staff.

I am originally from Quincy, Massachusetts—home of John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Dunkin’ Donuts. I have a BS in Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston and an MS in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University in Atlanta. I moved to Myrtle Beach right out of college so have lived down south longer than I lived in Massachusetts.

Before work, I get up early and go to my favorite exercise studio Hotworx in Carolina Forest. Who doesn’t love exercising in a 125-degree sauna? I love anything to do with the beach and consider myself so lucky to live here. I have two adult sons, two adult stepdaughters, and a young step-grandchild. Also, my husband Jim and I love our pets—Gunny and Ruby our two Golden Retrievers, and our two cats Rosie (the tux) and Tony (the orange tabby).
