Q&A with Ashdon Ouzts '12

Where are you from? Ridge Spring, S.C.

What was your major? Management

Why did you choose Coastal? The student-to-professor ratio in the classroom environment, athletic programs and the beach were the most influential deciding factors to make CCU my home.

What was your favorite memory of Coastal and why? There were many! Winning Homecoming King in 2012, joining The Nu Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and the Leadership Challenge led by Pat Singleton-Young. Each of these milestones molded my character and challenged me to become a better person.

What was your favorite spot on campus and why? The CINO Grille. Many of my friends met there in between classes, and I made many new friends waiting for food.

Who was/were your favorite professor(s) and why? Dr. Jerome Christia and Dr. Marvin Keene because they were a true and real representation of what I aspired to be. Additionally, all of my Philosophy professors, for they taught me there are many approaches to a single situation.

How did Coastal prepare you for your current career? Coastal is a forgiving environment that allows students to lead and find themselves while having a sense of pride. I learned many lessons from my CCU experience that I apply in many professional and personal relationships.

What is your current career?  I work for KPMG as a Business/Financial Management Consultant who provides advisory services to the Pentagon located in Washington, DC, and I am the owner of Kairos Consulting LLC.

Fun fact about yourself. I received recognition from The Secretary of the Navy and executive-level personnel for successful process re-engineering, organizational design, and business operational plan development and implementation.

How do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years, I see myself as a prominent leader in my firm and community with a concentration to support and help individuals achieve their version of success through mentorship.
