'Retail as the new frontier' among topics at CCU Growth Summit

Febuary 25, 2019

Conway, SC – Rox W. Pollard Jr., vice president and director of the retail services team for Colliers International South Carolina, will be one of four to headline the 21st annual Economic Growth and Real Estate Summit, hosted by the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics of Coastal Carolina University. The event will be held on March 1, 2019, at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Pollard will be joined by keynote speakers Lewis Johnson, co-chief investment officer of Capital Wealth AdvisorsDavid Eyzenberg, president of Eyzenberg & Company; and Robert Salvino, Ph.D., director of the Grant Center for Real Estate Economics.

Pollard manages the retail team at Colliers International, which delivers brokerage and consultation services to clients through their three South Carolina offices. There has been much news about the change in retail and how it affects brick-and-mortar retailing. Pollard will discuss the trends in brick-and-mortar retail based on his more than 30 years of involvement in retail real estate throughout South Carolina and the Myrtle Beach market. His talk will focus on truth verses perception and what is the retail new frontier.

“Pollard’s experience as a state and national leader in retail for Colliers International brings tremendous perspective for investors and community leaders in a time and place where demographics and technology are ever-impacting the retail and general real estate environment,” said Robert Salvino, Ph.D., director of the Grant Center for Real Estate and Economics.

Pollard has served the Central Carolina REALTORS® Association in many ways over the years, including serving as commercial chair. He is also an active member in the International Council of Shopping Centers, having served as the state operations chair from 2003-2006, and chairman of the Carolinas Idea Exchange in 2006.

Along with serving in various leadership positions, Pollard has also earned prestigious awards, such as the Clearly Colliers Award in 2003 and Colliers Chairman’s Choice Award in 2004. In 2017, he was recognized as a CoStar Power Broker for being a top retail leasing broker in Columbia, S.C.

Pollard graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in business marketing and management. He is involved in the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School board of trustees as board chair, and volunteers with the American Cancer Society.
