CCU student wins state tourism award
A Coastal Carolina University student recently won a Tourism Student Award from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism (PRT) and the South Carolina Travel and Tourism Coalition.
Kara Mari Funk of Conway, a senior majoring in hospitality, resort and tourism management, received the award for demonstrating outstanding academic achievement in her field. She was presented the award along with a $1,500 scholarship at a ceremony at the Lace House in Columbia on Nov. 1.Funk was one of nine South Carolina college students from hospitality-related programs chosen for the award.
