Baby Animal Day

PlayCard Environmental Education Center describes Baby Animal Day as "featuring hundreds of volunteers and focuses on many topics including baby animals, natural history, pioneers, Native American arts and crafts, forestry, fishing, recycling, turtle patrols, retiles alive, and marine science.

PlayCard is committed to fostering knowledge of the relatedness of plants, animals, soil, water, and human beings through teaching the natural sciences in the special world of a blackwater swamp. At PlayCard our goal is to instruct students in the natural sciences on-site, enabling them to experience first-hand the inter-relationships of living things. 

In addition to natural science programs, the Education Center provides experiential leadership challenge course opportunities. PlayCard facilitates day field trips, overnight camp-outs, special events, and teacher staff development. Internship opportunities are available through a partnership between Horry County Schools, Coastal Carolina University, and the Horry County Conservation Foundation."

RSM Baby Animal Day Volunteers

Participants in the RSM 389 Recreation and Sport Leadership course have the chance to volunteers at Baby Animal Day, a PlayCard Environmental Education Center partnership event. Student volunteers will be requested to direct an activity during their visit. Along with offering numerous opportunities, this volunteer partnership between Coastal Carolina University and PlayCard Environmental Education Center also gives our RSM students the chance to strengthen their leadership abilities while participating in outdoor and recreational activities.
