Friday Knights

Respite & Recreation Club

SOS Care describes Friday Knights as "a structured and supportive respite and recreational program for children, adolescents, and adults who need opportunities for social interaction through a variety of activities. participants are split into groups according to their age and rotate through activities throughout the night that encourage social interaction. Parents are encouraged to take the two hours to mingle with each other, get some grocery shopping done, or relax over dinner."

The RSM 389 Recreation and Sport Leadership course work has been designed primarily to provide a volunteer opportunity with the Friday Knights Respite and Recreation Club, although the program is open to anybody looking for volunteer work. The Friday Knights student volunteers will be expected to organize and implement an activity with the participants. The Friday Knights Respite and Recreation Club offers students a fantastic method to put the material they are learning in class into practice while also giving back to their community and developing their leadership skills.
