Reimagining Talent: The Business Value of Looking Beyond Stigma

Julie began her nonprofit career at Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) in 2016 as a volunteer with a passion for service work and harm reduction, inspired by her own recovery from problematic substance use and homelessness. She immediately connected with ECHO’s mission and has since served in multiple positions before being named Chief Development Officer in 2022.

Julie came to ECHO with over ten years of experience as a business analyst in the investment services industry. Through this experience, she learned the value of a long-term perspective, ethical practice, and fostering a collaborative culture to uncover the story within the story, the risks, and the potential rewards.

Julie graduated with a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and is currently pursuing an MBA from Coastal Carolina University. She lives in Myrtle Beach with her husband and two spoiled-rotten Great Danes.
