Peter L. Paquette, Ph.D., joined the Coastal Carolina University community in April 2018, and currently serves as the senior associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students. In his role, he supervises a collaborative and diverse student affairs team who work to promote student success and engagement within a healthy campus community. Paquette has oversight for Counseling Services; the Dean of Students Office, which includes Student Conduct, and Student Advocacy and Intervention; LiveWell; Student Health Services; Student Life, which includes Student Transitions and Family Programs, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Activities and Leadership, and Veterans Services.

Prior to coming to Coastal Carolina University as dean of students in 2018, Paquette served in administrative roles at Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Dickinson College, North Central College, and Loyola University-Maryland. He is active in numerous professional organizations within the field higher education and student affairs. He has presented over 20 sessions at national conferences, authored a book chapter, and serves as a co-lead facilitator for the LeaderShape Institute.

Paquette holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and communication studies from Edgewood College, a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs administration from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in counseling and student services from University of Georgia, with a doctoral certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
