Openings & Closings FAQs

What do I do if I need to move in early?

Answer: Per the Extended Stay Policy (STUD-334), University Housing allows residents to move in early for required University sponsored activities or significant circumstances. To request early move in, you may contact us directly. Residents approved to move into housing early will be charged an additional fee per additional night.

Is University Housing open during breaks?

Answer: University-operated housing will be open during the Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break. The Community Desks will be closed, but we will have RAs on call. No guests are allowed on campus during the break period. All residential facilities close for Winter Break and you can view the opening and closing dates online. Residents who have extenuating circumstances and need to stay on campus for winter break should contact their Community Coordinator. Residents approved to stay on campus during winter break will be charged an additional fee per additional night. Read more about the Extended Stay Policy (STUD-334) online.

Do I have to move out at the end of fall semester?

Answer: Residents planning to return to CCU for spring semester do not have to move out. Resident Advisers (RAs) will have floor meetings prior to exams to review closing procedures. We encourage residents to take any valuables home and lock their windows, bedroom door and suite/apartment door before leaving. University Housing staff will check all spaces at closing to ensure all closing procedures have been followed.

If I am attending summer school, do I have to move out at the end of spring semester?

Answer: Residents who are living on campus for Maymester will be allowed to move from their spring housing assignment to Maymester assignment when ready. We will contact the affected students prior to the end of spring semester with more details. Students who are attending other summer terms are not permitted to move in early and no storage is available.
